1- What is a multinational corporation (MNCs)?

A multinacional corporation (MNC) is a corporation or an enterprise that manages production or delivers services in more than one country. It can also referred as an international corporation. The International Labour Organization (ILO) has defined an MNC as a corporation wich has its management headquaters in one country know as the home country and operates in several other countries know as host countries.

The first modern MNC is generally thought to be the Dutch East India Company. Nowadays many corporations have offices, branches or manufacturing plants in different countries than where their original and main headquarter is located.

This often results in very powerful corporations that budgets that exceed some national GDPs. Multinational corporations can have a powerful influence in local economies as well as the world economy and play an importanr role in interational relations and globalization. The presence of such powerful players in the world economy ir reason for much controversy.

2- Write a few lines about its characteristics?

Is an anonymous multinational corporation that manages the production or delivery in many countries. There are many offices in different countries but they not are the originals.

3- State the main 5 industrial MNCs and the country they are from.

*Citigroup: is a major American financial services company in New York.

*Bank of America: is a financial services company, the largest bank holding company in the USA, by assets, and the second largest bank by market capitalization.

*The General Electric Company or GE is a multinational American technology and services conglomerate incorporated in the State of New York. In 2009, Forbes ranked GE as the world’s largest company. The company has 323.000 employees around the world.

*J.P Morgan Chase & Co: is one of the oldest financial services in the world. It has operations in 60 countries. It is a leader in financial services with assets of $2 trillion, and largest market capitalization and third largest deposit base U.S. banking institution behind Wells Fargo and Bank of America.

4- Could ZARA be a multinational? And Citroën?. Write a brief report about them.

Zara: zara is a clothing chain owened by Inditex (INdustrias de DIseño TEXtil). Is a large Spanish corporation and the one of the world’s largest fashion groups. It is made up of almost a hundred companies dealing with activities related to textile desing, production and distribution. Amancio Ortega Gaona, Spain’s rich man, is the founder and current chairman of Inditex.

Citroën: is a French automobile manufacturer. Fonded in 1919 by André Citroën, it was the one of the world’s first mass-production car company of the USA. Since 1976 it has been part of PSA Peugeot Citroën, and its headquarters is on rue Fructidor.The brand celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2009.

too much information please summarise! Banks are not industries, put ibm or ford or coca-cola instead of citigroup, bank of america or jpmorgan
